An Esper Final Fantasy XIV precon led by Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed that plays a value-heavy spell and control game. It wins by outdrawing opponents, stabilizing the board, and closing with powerful finishers.

Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed leads an Esper deck that wins by doing the most Esper thing imaginable: casting noncreature spells and making everyone else suffer for it. Each qualifying spell drains opponents and draws you cards, so removal, board wipes, and interaction all double as your engine and your win condition. The early game is about stabilizing the table and setting up the spell-based value loop, because once Y’shtola is online, you’re happy to trade resources all day. It plays like midrange control, except the “inevitability” is literally stapled to your commander. As the game goes longer, repeated spellcasting piles up damage while your card draw ensures you always have the next answer. Token makers and payoff threats give you bodies to defend yourself and close games, and big drain spells let you convert mana into a sudden life-total collapse when the time is right. You win either by steadily bleeding the table dry or by landing one massive finisher after you’ve exhausted everyone’s interaction. If you like control decks that don’t have to work very hard to turn defense into offense, Scions & Spellcraft is clean, cruel, and consistent.
